A price comparison site is generally a web site that collates information from a variety of sources, usually on-line retailers. These types of site then provide the user with a searchable database of products and prices enabling the customer of find the best deal on the items they are looking to purchase.

 

This type of site will have 2 important elements to it. The 'front-end' will feature a searchable product interface, which will link and track on-line users to a retailers' web site. The 'back-end' will provide administration to the site in general but will more importantly control the automation of often real time data feeds from the retailers' with the latest product data including price updates and new items for sale. The comparison web site will then automatically update its product data as required and will ultimately earn comissions from the retailers when items or services are purchased through the on-line link referal process.
